Welcome to Freiduria Fran, a hidden gem in the bustling region of Fuengirola, Malaga. Nestled in the lively Puerto Deportivo, this restaurant is not just a place to eat; it’s an experience where the vibrant flavors of the sea come alive. If you're a seafood lover, prepare to be thrilled.
As you step into Freiduria Fran, you'll immediately feel the energy of the locale. With its proximity to the beach, the buoyant atmosphere promises an exciting dining experience, even if the sea views are somewhat limited. The menu boasts a delightful variety, and the standout here is undoubtedly the fried fish platter. Generously portioned and alarmingly affordable, it feeds not only the body but also the soul, bringing together friends and family over mouthwatering seafood delicacies.
One happy customer, Peter Lindgren, rated the food a solid four stars, noting the standout drinks that complemented the meal perfectly. While the service may sometimes feel rushed, it doesn't detract from the overall enjoyment. Other patrons like CW applaud the pricing, with huge portions ensuring that no one leaves hungry—something you’ll truly appreciate after a day on the beach.
The paella here is another highlight that doesn't go unnoticed. The seafood paella, as noted by Andreea Daniela Dinulescu, exceeds expectations and can rival those found in Valencia. This complexity adds layers to your visit; you're not just getting a meal, but rather a cultural experience that captures the essence of Spanish cuisine. The grilled sardines, fried fish roe, and alioli sauce see throngs of returning customers, each with their own favorites that keep them coming back for more.
It’s worth mentioning that while the staff may occasionally seem swamped—especially during peak times—they manage to uphold a level of professionalism that ensures the food arrives promptly and stays delicious. As Frank Schmuntzsch noted, there's an authenticity to Freiduria Fran that blossoms even in its tourist-heavy surroundings. You'll find yourself dining among locals, showcasing that this spot has earned its rave reviews.
Finally, for those who enjoy a cold drink with their meal, the beer served in iced glasses is a must-try, making every sip refreshing and delightful. Overall, if you find yourself in the area, Freiduria Fran is a culinary escape worth experiencing. Indulge in the vibrant flavors, generous portions, and lively atmosphere that this restaurant proudly offers—you won’t leave disappointed.

Food was good, priced really well - portions are huge. For 4 we ordered the large fried fish platter and a paella for two with a salad. We ended up taking away a quarter of the fish platter and almost all the paella. Priced around 15 euros per person for some really good seafood (including soft drinks). Service is a bit stressed, everything takes quite a while and they aren't exactly friendly, but get the job done without being rude. Located right on Fuengirola seafront (no sea views but located on the beach) with plenty of parking, though it does get busy with beach-goers. Would definitely recommend, particularly the fried fish platter which will definitely feed three hungry people on its own for less than 25 euros.

We came because the place has good reviews. The food is really delicious. The service is fast but the waitresses (not just one, two of them) were very frowned and you didn’t feel welcomed. It was a very hot day so I assume the work is difficult but customers feeling welcomed is mandatory to a restaurant. I had paella with seafood and was amazing. The best seafood paella I ever had (compared to some in Valencia). Also, the grilled sardines from my friend plate were so fresh and tasty. My husband was disappointed by the burger (sadly he doesn’t eat seafood - his loss). The fries were ok, the alioli sauce delicious and also the olives (which I think were on the house). Overall, the food worth the visit. The sangria wasn’t very tasty and we tried both versions.

Surprisingly delicious, friendly, local and authentic in a very touristy location. We actually wanted to go to a different restaurant when we passed Freiduria Fran. At first glance, the restaurant looked as if Chinese tourist buses were being served there. But when we looked and listened, we realised that the guests spoke almost exclusively Spanish. We thought, why not give it a try, even if it didn't look like a place to talk at first glance. Again, all our prejudices were proved wrong. The food and service were excellent.

Good food at food price. It can get very busy and your orders can take longer. But I won't be marking down for this. As all the staff were all super busy and constantly serving customers and as mentioned it gets very busy especially during dinner. But definitely worth a visit.
